Baby wearing is a wonderful way to bond with your baby and is becoming more and more popular with parents worldwide. With hundreds of carriers to choose from, we wanted to give you some important tips for choosing your first carrier!

1. Versatility

There are lots of possibilities when it comes to baby carriers and some are more limited than others. Certain carriers will allow you to carry baby in all positions; front inward, front outward, on your hip and on your back as they get older whereas others may only allow front inward and back etc.

2. Comfort for Mum and Dad

Comfort for mum and dad is very important when looking for a carrier especially if you intend to baby wear a lot. Wide and well padded straps will help to make sure the weight is evenly distributed and if you are sharing a carrier with your partner, make sure it can be easily adjusted.

3. Ease of use

Unless you are willing to spend some serious man hours getting your baby in and out of your carrier, make sure it is easy to use. There is nothing worse than struggling especially if you’re alone with your newborn so easy to use buckles and clips are important.

4. Comfort for the baby

This may seem like an obvious one but the spectrum of carriers available is amazing and there is no doubt (within reason) that you get what you pay for with this one! It can be easy to overlook this especially if you buy the carrier before the baby is born. Look out for breathable fabric, a padded headrest and a good ergonomic sitting position.
