Silver Cross are a trusted brand, renowned for their exceptional pushchair range. Did you know they also have a range of car seats offering comfort and safety on every journey at every age? Silver Cross are committed to keeping children safe, secure and comfortable on every road journey they take.

We caught up with Hamish, Head of Car Safety at Silver Cross to answer your questions.

Q1. What is your role at Silver Cross?

I am the Head of Car Safety at Silver Cross, with 15 years of experience in the design, testing and manufacture of child car seats.

Q2. Are Silver Cross car seats safe?

Absolutely, safety is the first of our three core principles when developing our car seat range, alongside maximizing comfort and ease of use. All our seats are not only tested to the latest R129 crash testing standards, but also to the more challenging ADAC testing protocol. ADAC is an independent German organisation who thoroughly test car seats scoring them on crash safety, ease of use, ergonomics, pollutants, and ease of cleaning. We are extremely proud that our Dream infant carrier and Motion All Size 360 car seats score the best in their respective categories.

Q4. Which Silver Cross car seat should I choose?

This ultimately depends on your vehicle, lifestyle and the age of your child. We have something for everyone in our range, with models covering all ages groups.

If it is your first car seat, there are two from-birth options in our range:

  • The Dream infant carrier can be used up to 15 months, both on your pushchair and in your car. Dream can be fitted with or without the ISOFIX base.

For older children, our selection of next-stage car seats include Balance i-Size (suitable from 15 months to 12 years) and Discover i-Size (from 4 to 12 years), both of which can be easily adapted as your child grows for safety and comfort throughout their development.

Q5. When should my child move up a car seat stage?

It all depends on the size of your child and the type of seat. The top signs to keep an eye out for are: harness weight limits, harness height limits and shoulder and leg position.

Q6. Can your car seats be installed in the front seat?

Yes, so long as the airbag is deactivated. We always recommend using the rear left-hand seat as it is easiest and safest when you’re loading little ones in and out of the car when parked alongside the pavement.
